No plans to relocate Balfour ferry terminal

The provincial government announced that they have no plans to relocate the Balfour end of the ferry terminal.

CBC News reports that the announcement from the BC government came after strong local opposition to the move, and an extended comment period to gather views.

One possible move location was Queens Bay, a few minutes up from Balfour towards Kaslo. Concerns from some were around the impact on the Balfour economy, and the effect of removing Queens Bay beaches enjoyed by many. Benefits of the move were to be a slightly shorter journey time, and improved sailing ability due to periodic shallow waters at Balfour.
